Walking Rosary
Today after lunch, I took my rosary for a walk. I don't pray it enough, so I thought I would try getting out of the office and by myself. It was such a beautiful, blustery day that I ended up taking a brisk walk around the block. Anyone who could listen to my stream of consciousness would have been aware that I wasn't meditating on the Luminous Mysteries very well. I'm really out of practice, and walking introduces a myriad distractions to interrupt your prayer.
Some distractions are wonderful, though. I was walking along with the rosary wrapped around one hand, and I approached a woman wating at a bus stop. Usually in such situations I'll look up, smile and nod at the person I'm walking past. I started to do that, and she just came out and said "God Bless!" I almost tripped, but I recovered, said "Thank you. God bless you, too!" and continued. I don't know if she saw the rosary and recognized it, or if she's just in the habit of saying "God Bless!" to strangers, but she made that moment very special.
